* What are the benefits for youth to be involved in volunteering?
Volunteering can make a positive difference to people’s’ lives, especially those of the volunteers themselves, by gaining self esteem, confidence, social experience and skills. It gives volunteer a broader vision, which will be helpful to them as a member of workforce, families and society in general.
In recent years due to change in college admission metrics, extra curricular activities that demonstrate leadership, teamwork, creativity, social responsibilities, passion and endurance have been rapidly gaining significance, to the point where the quality and quantity demonstrated by college applicants’ volunteer services become paramount in college application.
* Who can volunteer?
ANYONE! Although PVSA only allows volunteers from 5 years old to apply awards, anyone can and should volunteer. If you are a member of FUN Youth, your hours are recorded every year and can accumulate towards your lifetime hour, independent and in parallel of PVSA program, as long as you remain a FUN Youth member.

* Can I request FUN Youth to apply PVSA award on my behalf
FUN Youth is a PVSA Certification Organization. You will have to
— Be an US citizen or permanent resident
— Be a FUN Youth member ( Paid annual membership and received a membership number from us )
— Meet PVSA hour count requirement within our PVSA year ( Sept. 1 to Aug 31 )
If you are one of our members and meet the above requirements, we will automatically apply award for you, without you doing anything. We will also set up award ceremonies with governments so your contribution to the society be officially recognized. ( Eligibility https://presidentialserviceawards.gov/eligibility )
* Does FUN Youth accept volunteer hours from a 3rd party nonprofit? Can hours earned at FUN Youth be transferred to 3rd party nonprofit?
We can accept 3rd party volunteer hours, as much as 25% of total hours recorded by FUN Youth. For example, if a member has 80 volunteer hours from FUN Youth programs, he or she can transfer (up to) 20 volunteer hours from one or more 3rd party 503c nonprofit. These hours can be added to the 80 hours at FUN Youth, making the volunteer hours total 100 hours. However, the member can not double count that 20 hours at the 3rd party organization after the transfer. ( This transfer requires a formal transfer letter from the 3rd party nonprofit showing their current nonprofit status, EIN, volunteer name, transfer amount, and a confirmation that the transferred amount will be deduced from their record. )
All volunteer hours accumulated at FUN Youth can be transferred to any 3rd party nonprofit. For example, if a member earned 20 hours at FUN Youth, all 20 hours can be transferred to any 3rd party nonprofit. Any hours transferred to 3rd party nonprofit will be deducted from member volunteer hour total.
* What is life time hour count
Lifetime hour count is the total volunteer service hours a FUN Youth member accumulated under their membership number through volunteering or transferring over all the years they remain FUN Youth members. Our members can see their lifetime hour count in the “Lifetime Hour” column of the service hour register sheet. Our high school members are encouraged to work towards 1000 lifetime hours at the end of 11th grade summer. This total service hour figure, along with medal count and quality of the various volunteer projects they led or participated over the years, will be one of the centerpieces of their college admission essays.
* What if I had a birthday that would bump me up an age category and therefore increase the award hour count threshold?
Age category is determined by the age a volunteer is for at least 7 months out of a designated 12-month award period.
* How do I support FUN Youth?
